Bowen Island, BC — [11/4/2025] Bowen Island Football Club (BIFC) is pleased to announce that we are hiring for a Technical Director to support the continued development of our players, coaches, and programs.
The Technical Director will play a key leadership role in shaping our club’s football philosophy, providing coach mentorship, and supporting a positive, inclusive environment for all players on Bowen Island. This part-time role will work closely with our volunteers, families, and club leadership to ensure a high-quality, community-driven football experience.

Technical Director Role Description
ROLE TITLE: Technical Director
REPORTS TO: Bowen Island Football Club Board of Directors
HOURS: Flexible
OVERVIEW
To oversee all technical aspects of the Club including player and coaching development, certification and standards.
TD DUTIES
Ensure policies are followed and recorded, as per BC Soccer Association regulations
Act as the liaison with BC Soccer, NSYSA, all leagues and clubs
Recruit and oversee all volunteer team managers and coaches
Liaise with GM and BC Soccer and Canada Soccer over coaching certification
Establish direct and easy communications with parents, coaches and managers
Liaise with other clubs to look at possible partnerships and development opportunities such as tournament or competition opportunities
Establish relationships with other clubs for teams graduating from U13 to Mainland teams
Liaise with Club Coaches on possible Player advancement within the Club (Play Up/Down)
Oversee and designate all BIFC youth programming including Mini House, Academy and League Teams as well as summer camps.
Oversee Adult programming and assign Adult Coordinators
Provide support, drills, ideas and coaching documentation to Club coaches
Responsible with GM for coordinating all BIFC equipment related ordering, storing and distribution
Oversee BIFC Academy program and liaise with Academy Coaches
Oversee BIFC Referee Pool including sourcing of new Referees, as well as Referee Mentoring
Manage Field Scheduling for both Practices and Games by working with Coaches and Bowen Island Rec Centre
Manage Field Maintenance by working with Bowen Island Rec Centre on regular maintenance schedule (mowing, seeding, fertilizing, rolling, etc.), as well as Youth Teams to create a field lining schedule
Ensure BIFC maintains Canada Soccer Quality Soccer Provider status (BC Soccer Club Licensing program), developed to ensure clubs are meeting set standards to further enhance the development of players, coaches, referees and parents at the grassroots level
Ensure with GM that all coaches meet Coaching Certification standards as well as First Aid requirements
Develop, implement and share BIFC curriculum (system of play, skill development)
Take BC Soccer Technical Director course and C license (when available)
Maintain detailed database on all coaches and managers showing CRC, coaching certification, CPR/First Aid status and signed agreements
Provide updates to the Board of Directors on programming status
Create a GM & TD Year End Report along with GM to be included in AGM
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
Ability to provide on Field Coaching support
Complete Canada Soccer Pathways Coaching Certification
Complete BC Soccer TD Diploma
Digital Media experience to help updating website and social media feeds
IT skills (Microsoft Office 365) to manage email communication, as well as update and maintain online documentation
