BIFC ACADEMY REGISTRATION

[April 9th through May 30th]

The Bowen Island FC Academy is designed to provide extra training for those who desire it and focusses on skill development through possession-based sessions, focussing on ball mastery, 1v1 defending and attacking, evasive dribbling, shooting, shielding the ball, receiving the ball on the "back foot" as well as fitness, speed and agility work.

Our three Academy programs are named after prominent Canadian soccer talents that we feel have contributed to growing the game while aligning with BIFC's core values. We are not affiliated with these athletes but wanted to dedicate our programs to their endless endeavours to be the best footballers that they could be.

Financial Assistance: BIFC recognizes there are families in the community for whom registration fees pose a genuine financial hardship. We are an inclusive club and believe everyone should have the ability to play. If you are in need of a bursary, send an email to the Club Registrar, all requests will be kept strictly confidential.

What To Bring: Cleats, shin guards and a water bottle. Cleats can be purchased at Macey's (North Van)Sport ChekCanadian Tire, or the Knick Knack Knook sometimes has used cleats. We encourage players to wear shin pads under their soccer socks or track pants.

Rain or Shine: Soccer in BC means getting used to playing in wet (and sometimes cold) conditions. Please dress your child in appropriate clothing for outdoor activity and it is very important to keep your child as warm and dry as possible. Please use BIFC clothing (or red soccer or sports clothing) whenever possible.

Payment Options: To register click on the appropriate link above. For payment options, BIFC prefers e-transfer to avoid members incurring credit card fees. To choose this option select pay offline when registering and send e-transfer to info@bowenfc.com. Registrations are accepted after the program begins so long as there is room in the group.

All players are assigned into one of the three groups based primarily on age, but also on skill, attitude, coachability and maturity. As a guide Davies is for beginners (U8/U9), Sinclair is for intermediate players (U10/U11), while Hargreaves is geared towards advanced players (U12/U13). The Academy Hargreaves group may include some recent alumni players who are pursuing the sport at a high level. The first few sessions will be used to assess players after which some players may be moved to a different group. The BIFC Academy program is run by the Club Technical Director (GM@bowenfc.com). For more information on the Academy visit here.

**The birth years listed below are a guideline only. BIFC reserves the right to place players in skill-appropriate and like-minded groups rather than be restricted by age. All sessions take place at the BICS AT Field and are overseen by Club TD.
