2026 Founders Award - Will Segal

Earlier this month we were delighted to be able to award our Annual BIFC Founders Award to an absolute legend of our club, Will Segal. The award was created in 2023 and is given in partnership with the Bowen Island Community Foundation to former BIFC players.

Will has brought so much to the club, as a player, coach and referee and as he moves onto a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba we wish him all the very best for his future. He’s a fabulous young man and we’re all certain he’ll be a huge success.

In Will’s own words, ‘Once I left to play in the BCSPL off island, I felt a responsibility to pay it forward to Bowen youth just as Morgan Quarry and Burns Jennings helped me’.

We wish Will the very best for his studies and thank him for everything that he has brought to the club and our community.

Eligibility: Applicants must:

• Have participated in at least one year of BIFC league play, no matter at which level (i.e. U8-U12);

• Have continued to embody the spirit of the BIFC beyond their membership in the club

• Have contributed to the Bowen community in some way

There is no age limit or minimum for applicants. All relevant aspects of an applicant’s life will be considered. It is not necessarily the most academically strong applicant who will be chosen.

We'll be back in 2027 with next year's recipient.
