BIFC is pleased to announce registration is now open for Fall Academy which will run from October 13 to December 2nd. The BIFC Academy is open to ALL Youth Team players (U9-U13). The Club will hold Academy sessions for U9 and U10 players (Pele) on Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:15 and U11 and U13 (Messi) players on Thursdays from 5:15 - 6:30. Players invited to Xavi (no age restrictions) will train on Fridays (4:00 - 5:15). Some players at Pele who are currently excelling beyond their age level will be invited to train with the Messi group.
The BIFC Academy is designed to provide extra training for those who desire it and focusses on skill development through possession-based sessions, focussing on ball mastery, 1v1 defending and attacking, evasive dribbling, shooting, shielding the ball, receiving the ball on the "back foot" as well as fitness, speed and agility work.
All players are assigned into one of the three groups based on a combination of age, skill, attitude, coachability and maturity. As a guide Pele is for beginners, Messi is for intermediate players while Xavi is geared towards advanced players and is by invite only. The Academy Xavi category may include some recent alumni players who are pursuing the sport at a high level. The first few sessions will be used to assess players after which some players may be moved to a different group. The BIFC Academy program is run by the Club Technical Director (GM@bowenfc.com).
