Meet The Board - 2025

On Thursday March 27th we held our AGM at Doc Morgan's on Bowen Island. Thanks to everybody who came out as we elected our Board for 2025. We're really excited to have several 2024 board members returning, as well as some fresh faces joining, so wanted to share a quick overview of who'll be leading the Club for the next year.

Niul Bird - President:

Niul has spent the last two years as President of the club as well as stepping in as an acting Technical Director. He has been at the heart of everything the club has achieved in that time and has played a major part in securing our longterm future while passing on his soccer wisdom to a host of budding players.

Originally from Ireland, Niul has played soccer all his life, and still regularly joins our Adult Coed Soccer nights. He also coaches in the BIFC Youth Program and Academy where his son Cillian is making huge strides as he embarks on his journey with the sport.

As a club we're very lucky to have had Niul play such a big part over the past few years, and thank him for everything that he's helped us to achieve.

Lee Vincent - Secretary:

Lee has been a Board Member since 2018 and is back as Club Secretary after taking over the reins last year. We're very happy to have him back in this role!

Lee has been a major part of BIFC for several years now, and recently coached our U13s through to graduation with the Club. He brings with him an extensive knowledge of Bowen Island and our community through his role as Facility Manager with Bowen Island Municipality which is invaluable as we aim to ensure that BIFC is at the heart of our local community in everything that we do.

Boris Nikic - Treasurer:

Boris took over as Treasurer at the club in 2024 and has continued in his role this year. He brings a wealth of financial management experience to the role and does an incredible job of ensuring that our accounts remain healthy and well maintained.

Boris can regularly be seen at our Adult Coed Soccer nights where he has played with the club for several years.

Andy Gillooley - Member at Large:

Andy moved to Bowen Island in 2019 and immediately started playing Adult Coed. Once his kids started with the BIFC youth programs he wanted to get more involved with the Board and use his background in sports marketing to help grow the club.

Recently Andy has helped rebrand our website, taken over our social media and launched a range of BIFC merchandise, and is looking forward to new and exciting opportunities.

Rebecca Ander - Member at Large:

After leaving the UK in 2010 Rebecca thought she’d never be a “footie mum”. Turns out the only other place as passionate as her home town of Liverpool about the sport, is Bowen Island! She now has 3 boys who all play “soccer”, so becoming a Board Member at BIFC 2 years ago was just a natural progression, since her family clearly has many years left with this wonderful club!

Jess Onqa - Member at Large:

Jess moved to Bowen in 2022, and soccer was the first sport that she enrolled her kids in. She has been coaching the U12 girls for a couple of years now, and has found it to be such an amazing experience to watch those girls grow in the sport. She is looking forward to supporting the club in more ways as she joins the BIFC Board.

Ryan Glancy - Member at Large:

Ryan has been a longterm member of our Adult Coed program, occasionally scoring incredible volleys, but more often hitting the trees behind the goal.

Last year he started coaching our U8 Girls Program, and we're thrilled to have him join the BIFC Board. His environmental background will certainly be a huge asset to the Club as we look to ensure that we prioritise the needs of our Island as we look to grow and take on new initiatives.
