BIFC is thrilled to announce we have opened registration for our Adult Spring/Summer Leagues following the announcement on May 25 lifting restrictions on adult sports. The respective leagues will begin play on June 7 and run for 8 weeks until July 30.
The BIFC Adult Recreational League is designed for those seeking to enjoy the beautiful game in a fun, social, friendly and safe environment. Players are selected into teams in a blind draw and play each other in a league play. The 5-A-Side League is for those looking to play at a more competitive - but equally safe and enjoyable environment - than the Recreational League. It will only run if we get a minimum of 20 players. If not, then we will only play ARL with those who signed up for the 5-A-Side eligible to play in the ARL (if they wish).
Depending on our final numbers we will consider possibly dividing players into drop-in cohorts. We did this in the Fall of 2020 and found it to be very successful as players were able to play 2/week on designated nights and we were able to keep all kick-offs to 7:00 pm.
As we offered in the Fall and Spring, players will have the choice of registering for either the Adult Recreational League (18+), the 5–A-Side league or if you wish both leagues (at a discount). The cost to register for either league is only $100 and if you register for both then the fee is only $150.
On June 4 we will assess the total registrations and decide if we go ahead with two leagues or amalgamate the registrations into one ARL. We have reserved games to be played on weekday nights beginning at 7:00 pm. Should there be large numbers we will look to play doubleheaders.
We are also planning to offer a 50+ and 60+ night on Tuesdays beginning June 22 and running for 5 weeks.
We have purchased new size 5 adidas balls and should we have the numbers to create teams we will provide a shirt for each player for league play. For those who have not played in a while, the new AT Field surface is a big improvement on the previous field.
